Only one fixture beat the weather on Saturday in the Baines Bagguley Penhale North Lancashire Football League, as Caton United beat Boys' Club 5-0.

In a game that was moved to Lancaster and Morecambe College’s all-weather pitch, Caton took a first half lead through Asa Stone – his initial shot from inside the penalty area was saved by the goalkeeper but he forced the ball home at the second attempt.

Stone made it 2-0 before half time when a clearance from a corner was sliced into the air and the Caton man headed the ball into the net.

Stone completed his hat-trick in the second half with a fine finish after initially showing good strength to turn his marker, and Daniel Briggs Calvert made it 4-0, getting on the end of an in-swinging corner.

Christian Sawacki completed the scoring late on as Caton claimed the three points.
