Lancashire County Council's cabinet has agreed a programme of investment in transport infrastructure including roads, streetlights, bridges, flood prevention measures, and cycling and walking improvements as part of a package worth £45.8m over the next year.

It includes £30.3m to resurface roads and prevent potholes appearing following the damage caused during a particularly cold winter.

This adds to £6m which has already been set aside to ensure repairs can be made to potholes throughout the year.

Of this, £6.4m is being put into repairing residential roads, and more than £8.8m prioritised for the busiest A, B and C roads.

A further £2.8m is to be invested in improving rural roads, along with £950,00 for rural 'moss roads' which need special maintenance due to the wet and peaty ground they're built upon.

The spending has been announced in a year where government funding to repair damaged roads in Lancashire has been slashed by a quarter.

Lancaster Premier Inn to Lake Enterprise Park. Surface dressing. Cost - £141,574

Broadway to the Golf Club. Surface dressing. Cost - £61,890.

Heaton Bottom Road, Heysham

Lancaster Road to outside Green Hedges property - Resurfacing. Cost - £55,943

Cowan Bridge, A65.

From Burr Tree Cottage to the National Speed Limit Signs - Resurfacing as part of a multitreatment scheme. Cost - £64,459.

Two sections: Cowan Bridge gateway sign for 256m easterly, and from a point 716m west of the North Yorkshire Boundary for approx 300m in a north westerly direction to the Ireby/Leck Parish boundary - Surface dressing as part of a multitreatment scheme. Cost - £50,175
