Otter spotted swimming in the Lancaster Canal

An otter has been spotted "swimming around and popping its head out of the water" by a woman running along the Lancaster Canal.

Dasha Allard spotted the animal as she was running along the Lancaster Canal at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 25.

She said: "I was on a run today and spotted an otter swimming around the Lancaster Canal.

"I was amazed to see the little creature swimming around, popping its head in and out of the water as I approached it.

"At first I could not believe my eyes, I thought 'surely not'! I quickly took a picture of it as it came out of the water."
