A ‘special’ deployment of specials accompanied British Transport Police officers on a high visibility patrol in the run-up to Christmas.

Three Special Constables Michael McCartan, Rachel Bond, Joseph Bloomfield and acting Special Sergeant Jennifer Leach teamed up with regular BTP officers to reassure passengers and staff at stations in the Lancashire area. Concentrating on late night services from Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness and Manchester Victoria to Clitheroe, the officers were on hand to assist rail staff and passengers.

Sergeant Tom Nicholls said: “In the run-up to Christmas, services are naturally busier than usual and patrols such as this help reassure the public.”
