Hide AdSt John’s Hospice’s eight existing shops play a pivotal role in raising much needed funds which support patients and families in the local community by providing in-patient care, nursing care in people’s own homes as well as a valued day hospice service enabling patients to meet at the hospice and socialise.
Jo Humphrey, St John’s Hospice shops operation manager, said: “It’s an exciting time for us with the pound shop opening and a new clothing shop in Lancaster in the pipeline. Last year our eight shops raised a staggering £280,000 profit – so it’s true to say that people’s unwanted items really are someone else’s treasure!”
The pound shop will initially open Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Once a team of volunteers are recruited it is hoped to open the shop six days a week.
If you are interested in volunteering at any of the hospice shops, please contact Nicky Willan on 01524 382538.
