Over 50 local employers who work closely with the staff and students of Lancaster & Morecambe College’s hairdressing department were welcomed onto campus to celebrate the work and achievements of the hairdressing apprentices they employ.

Whilst on campus the visitors were given a first look at the brand new Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy salons, The Salon, which has spent a year under development.

The brand new facilities are host to fantastic, industry standard equipment as well as flexible work stations and a welcoming environment for staff, students and customers alike.

As well as a tour of the facilities, the event also included a catwalk show from level 3 hairdressing apprentices and a Wella demonstration.

Staff from salons such as; Reds, Morecambe, Heaton Hair, Lancaster and Sweeny Bobs in Grange attended to support their apprentices and enjoy the showcase of talent.

Tracie Carrick, hairdressing lecturer and organiser of the event, said: “The students have worked so hard for months to choose the music, make-up, developing the hairstyles, outfits, choreography and promote the event.

“It is hard work and a challenge, but as always they have done an amazing job and I was so proud and impressed with the standard of work achieved and their dedication and motivation. Big well done to everyone involved!”
