The Get It Loud in Libraries project is going from strength to strength. ELLIE WITT gives her verdict on this most unlikely live music success story.
OVER the past five years the likes of Adele, Florence and the Machine, Mr Hudson, Juliette Lewis, Jessie J and Noah and the Whale have all performed in our local libraries.
This is thanks to the fantastic Get It Loud in Libraries programme - run throughout Lancashire combining live music with our precious libraries.
At a time when these valuable resources are being serious threatened due to government cuts, this ingenious idea is a way to bring great live music to all ages and all genre lovers, whilst at the same time boasting the adaptability and versatility of our libraries.
Stewart Parsons and his team at Lancaster and Morecambe libraries have won numerous awards such as the Love Libraries Award Winner 2007 and runner up in both the LGC Innovation Awards and the Lancashire County Council Pride Awards Team Of the Year 2009.
