A HOT and humid day, a packed crowd outside The Platform, and world class musical talent sending sweet sounds echoing down the promenade. This is what Morecambe’s festivals season is all about!
The entire three-day BluesWater event was another smash hit in this non-stop “Top 20” festival summer.
Courtland Bresner from Bare and Richard Law opened Friday evening at the Trimpell Club. Their 45 minute set of classic blues included Little Red Rooster by Howling Wolf, Crossroads Blues by the legendary Robert Johnson and Key To The Highway by Big Bill Broonzy.
Their one hour set proved that this is one band who must have been raised on Dr Feelgood’s elixir of Milk and Alcohol!
To say Dr. Truth hit the stage running is putting it mildly. This was a band that meant business. The brilliant Chris Roach made his guitar whimper, weep, scream and soar backed up by Paul Ashton on keyboards, Rick Lacey on drums and unflappable American bass player Dave Levin from Kansas City, Missouri.
Saturday evening saw a change of venue and a move to the Park Hotel in Morecambe’s West End. Warming up the attendees with his steel guitar and bottleneck, Courtland Bresner played his second set of the weekend.
