Manchester rock band James have been announced as new Friday night headliners for this year’s Beat-Herder Festival in Lancashire.
Primal Scream were originally booked for the slot, but they were forced to pull out after frontman Bobby Gillespie injured his back falling from the stage at a gig in Switzerland.
The festival said: “We are thrilled, elated and so very happy to welcome James to The Beat-Herder Festival.
“James have just finished an arena tour, released a new album and have a back catalogue of sing your heart out anthems to make Friday night one of the most unifying experiences the festival will have ever experienced.
“Goosebump moments guaranteed - gather round, shake loose and feel the warmth of James.”
The festival in the Ribble Valley, now in its 11th year, also features performances from Donovan, Todd Terje, Miike Snow, Booka Shade, The Lancashire Hotpots and a whole host of dance and electronic acts.
Bentham’s Dohnut (formerly known as eating disorder), are also on the bill, along with Digitalism, Mr Scruff, Dub Pistols, Easy Star All Stars,
The festival features a stunning array of stages and themed areas, including The Fortress, Toil Trees, Trailer Trash, The Beat-Herder & District Working Men’s Club, The Beat-Herder Stage, Pratty’s Ring and Smokey Tentacles Shisha Lounge.
