For all you Wildcat lovers out there, it’s time to go back to school.
Lancaster Grand Theatre will be putting on their very own version of High School Musical on July 7, 8, 9, 15, 16 and 17. During free period, the science lab will see the new student Gabriella Montez (played by Amy-Jo Clough) meet her new fellow students, in particular Taylor Mckessie (played by Busiswa Pele) who becomes her best friend. The Brainiacs, maybe ultra-nerdy, but songstress Gabriella, takes them on a new journey into the world of music.
Amy-Jo said: “Most people know me for singing, but not necessarily musical theatre, although I played Sandy in Grease for Lancaster Amatuer Dramatic Operatic Society, and Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors with About Theatre.
“My voice doesn’t really lend itself to straight musical theatre, but Gabriella is quite poppy, so I am having fun playing, the cute, sweet girl who loves to sing.”
Over in basketball practice, Coach Bolton (played by Steve Johnson) takes his lively Jocks through all the drills and punishing regime that is the world of basketball.
In the midst, his son Troy Bolton (played by Josh Taylor) torments himself with his love of basketball, singing and more importantly is love for Gabriella.
Josh is no stranger to the stage, this Bolton-based teen actor, singer, songwriter and recording artist has been performing on stage, in theatre and on TV since 2008.
Tickets cost £10 and £9 for concessions and are available on 01524 64695 or by visiting www.lancastergrand.co.uk/shows.
