The Mamas and the Papas once released a famous song called California Dreaming.
Now for a young Lancaster band, the California dream is all set to become reality.
Alternative three-piece Ark are set to appear at the West End Celebration festival on the golden shores of Monterey Bay in the sun-drenched American state.
The young band has been a regular feature on the music scene in Lancaster and Morecambe for over two years and can’t wait to branch out to the ‘Golden Coast’.
It’s quite a departure from their success as Battle of the Bands champions at the Bobbin in 2013.
Ark then launched their debut EP and on the back of that, were thrilled to be invited to play at the festival in the US.
Lewin Cantor (guitar and vocals), Fergus Walsh, (bass) and Joel Shooter (drums) will be performing on the Reel to Reel Stage on Sunday, August 24.
Their hour-long set will showcase their original music, which ranges from the ethereal and lyrical through to full-on power rock.
It will be an exciting opportunity for Ark not only to perform, but also to work alongside consummate professionals such as Louisiana blues musician Sonny Landreth, blues and jazz star Chris Cain and MoonAlice.
“As our first international festival appearance, we couldn’t have wished for more,” said Fergus.
“It is a privilege to be invited to share our music at the West End Celebration.
“We know we will learn so much from the experience and hopefully gather a transatlantic following in the process.
“We really want to thank Steve and the other festival organisers for this amazing opportunity.”
