Leighton Hall encourages kids to play

Organisers at Leighton Hall, near Carnforth, encourages younger visitors to have fun in the stately home and makes sure they have space to play.

Children are allowed to touch things, sit on the furniture and get involved. During the house tour, children can take part in a “Teddy Treasure Hunt.”

This means adults get chance to listen to the history of the famous Gillow furniture making family, whilst the children are occupied searching for 10 furry friends hidden around the house.

Later, venture into the woods to “Find the Faces,” which are hidden on various trees throughout the woodland walk.

After a birds of prey flying display (weather permitting), little ones can run wild around the caterpillar maze, play in the gardens and outdoor play area, and enjoy the climbing frame, swings and slide. The tearooms and gift shop are also open.

Lucy Arthurs, estate manager at Leighton Hall, said: “This is our home and we love the fact that other families feel at home here too.”

All these attractions are included in the admission price. Leighton Hall is open for families from Tuesday to Friday and Sundays in August, 2pm – 5pm (also bank holidays).

Admission £7.95 adults, £4.95 children (five–12 years) and £7.25 for senior citizens.

A family ticket is £24.95 (for two adults and three children).

The hall is 10 minutes’ drive from Junction 35 on the M6.
