Acclaimed poet and writer Lemn Sissay will be performing at More Music’s Hothouse in Morecambe this weekend.
The award-winning writer will present an inspirational evening of poems on Saturday March 12 at 7.30pm. Sissay, who was the official poet for the 2012 London Olympics, will also deliver a writing workshop on Sunday March 13 from 10.30am to 4pm.
Lemn has worked on various More Music projects including The Long Walk and Preston Guild and has an international reputation as a writer and a performer. He was recently appointed Chancellor of Manchester University.
He has also appeared on many television programmes including BBC’s Grumpy Old Men and The South Bank Show.
Support comes from Pete Moser and Sasha Mitchell, performing ‘Love Songs of World War 3’ by Adrian Mitchell.
Tickets cost £10 (£7 concessions) in advance and can be bought via www.moremusic.org.uk/lemn-sissay.
‘Off Stage with Lemn Sissay’ on Sunday will give people the opportunity to develop their writing skills alongside a master.
Lemn will take budding writers through a process of creative writing to make their own lyrics and spoken word pieces and Pete Moser will then help turn them into song. The day costs £25 and you can book at www.moremusic.org.uk/offstage-lemnsissay.
