Morecambe born author Katy Regan is offering fans the chance to have their name in her next book as part of an online charity event.
The author of ‘One Thing Led to Another’ and ‘The Story of You’ is taking part in the Get In Character event, along with more than 60 fellow writers, all to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Other authors taking part include Emma Donoghue, the author of Room, Paula Hawkins, author of The Girl on the Train, and thriller writer Simon Kernick.
From 8pm on February 25, the 10 day auction will give fans of the author a chance to bid to have a character in their next book named after them. Other prize items include book bundles, critiques from writers, and author meet and greet events. All of the proceeds will be donated to CLIC Sargent.
Katy said: “My book is half narrated by a child, even though it’s a book for adults. I specifically chose to do this, because I wanted to explore how children tend to keep the faith where adults sometimes fail, and how their hopeful outlook can shine a light on adults’ weak spots. I thankfully have no experience of it myself, but I imagine that the bravery and hope of children going through cancer, can ultimately teach us adults a thing or two about how to live and get through hard times. This is why I believe that CLIC Sargent is a fantastic charity for me to support.”
