Former sailor Robert Watson from Lancaster – who I featured on this page in July – has published the final book in his Birkett family saga.
The focus of ‘The Treasure of the Sarah M’ is Robert Birket who many assumed went down with the Sarah M, the ship he had loved since being a boy, when it was sunk in British waters during peace time. Yet is it possible that Robert could still be alive?
Author Robert will be giving a talk and signing copies of the book at Morecambe Library on Friday November 22 followed by Lancaster Library on Saturday December 7. Lancashire Libraries have also asked Robert to speak at many book and writing clubs and libraries over the coming months.
He said: “I have to admit I am looking forward to that. Since your last article such a lot seems to have happened.
“I have also been mentoring some up and coming authors so it would be nice to tap in to new talent in my hometown.”
lIf anyone is interested in being mentored by Robert, email firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll put you in touch.
Between those dates , Robert ia planning a nostalgia trip to the Dalton Arms in Glasson Dock. The Dalton arms is so much a part of my nautical past i spent so much time with my dad and his old sailor mates in there. for my sins i was barred 40 years ago. But the Dalton arms saw that this might have been a bit to long to ban anyone for lol. That was back in my early days at sea. So i am really looking forward to going back. One of my closest friends who sadly passed away was one of the ones barred with me. it is strange that his widow is now part of the new management team there. From then on it all goes a bit nutty/ Lancashire Libraries have asked me to speak at so many book clubs writing clubs libraries over the coming months. i have to admit i am looking forward to that. I have been mentoring some up and coming authors for a few years now so it would be nice to tap in to new talent in my home town. I have attached a photo of the new book cover for you and there is a synopsis below. I do have to say a massive thanks to you Debbie the last article did seem to have a great effect . If you would like any more information please do feel free to contact me.
THE TREASURE OF THE SARAH M.
It’s no secret that the Sarah M. was a coveted ship back in its day. Smooth and sleek, she’s travelled the Oceans of the world for as long as anyone can remember. She was sunk in British waters during peace time. Her legacy now sits at the bottom of the Irish Sea now she was, a memory and forgotten about or was she?. It’s been said that deep within her bowels sits a fortune in gold. One, two countries are locked in a deadly race against time in the hopes of finding it. The Sarah M.’s prize ensures that whoever finds it has enough power to change the world. The fight to find her final resting place has begun, and many lives will be lost along the way. Only one man can make a difference. Robert Birket knew from the very start where the secrets of the Sarah M. lay. Many assumed he went down with the ship he had loved since being a boy a long time ago. Yet is it possible that he could still be alive? Would he be willing to change the world as
