New Dukes season breaks the ice

There's a warm welcome awaiting audiences to The Dukes new season despite an icy start.

The Lancaster theatre’s commitment to new drama continues with its first home produced show of the autumn – The Ockerbys On Ice.

Coronation Street writer Debbie Oates returns to The Dukes with a funny, heart-warming play about an ordinary couple, Viv and Dennis Ockerby, who win a shot at immortality thanks to cryonic freezing. Performed in The Round, and supported partly through a crowdfunding campaign, The Ockerbys On Ice runs from September 30-October 22.

There’s more family theatre to enjoy during the autumn season with Michael Morpurgo’s An Elephant In The Garden paying a visit on October 26 and the puppet theatre show, Cake, on October 29.

Multi-awardwinning comedian, Tim Fitzhigham appears as Will Kempe, Shakespeare’s stand up, on November 2 and Austentatious improvise a brand new Jane Austen work before your very eyes on November 25.

Lancaster Jazz Festival returns to The Dukes on September 17 with a special commission by its Artist in Residence, Cath Roberts, arguably the UK’s most exciting saxophonist,composer and large ensemble leader.
