Comedian Dave Spikey returns to Morecambe
The comedian who loves Morecambe is back.
Multi-award-winning Dave Spikey will be returning to the town this month with his new show, ‘Punchlines’.
The Phoenix Nights star can’t get enough of the resort and has performed here many times.
“I think it’s something to do with the accent – the warmth and phrasing and timing,” said Spikey when asked about his love of the North.
“I think our sense of humour is special – that ability to laugh at ourselves, to take the mickey with a smile and without real offence and most importantly, to laugh in the face of adversity.
“You know that quotation – ‘Is your glass half full or half empty?’ In the North the answer is the glass is too big. Shut up and get a smaller glass mate.”
With a career spanning more than two decades, Dave has numerous TV appearances under his belt as a stand-up comedian, game show panellist, presenter and actor – and behind the screens as an acclaimed comedy writer, including writing for the BBC’s One Show.
Spikey began his comedy journey almost 25 years ago, pounding the comedy club circuit and supporting the likes of Jack Dee, Max Boyce, Cannon and Ball and Eddie Izzard – all in the space of one week.
The funny man will bring his show to the Platform in Morecambe on Thursday November 24 at 7.30pm. Tickets £15 on 01524 582803 or www.lancaster.gov.uk/theplatform.
