Vale of Lune squash youngsters play first team match

Vale of Lune’s junior squash players played their first ever team match against rugby club rivals Preston Grasshoppers.

Youngsters nurtured by one of the club’s England level 2 coaches Rob Kitchen got the chance to exercise their skills in a series of low-key games against boys and girls of a similar age.

Vale generally had the upper hand but the fixture was such a success that a return leg is to be played at Preston in the near future.

Afterwards, the teams enjoyed the hospitality of the Vale, thanks to club house manager Liam Law.

Rob said: “The day went really well and everyone had a great time.

“All the parents and coaches were very proud of what the youngsters achieved.”
