Vale 38-0 Warrington

Against Warrington the Vale firmly put behind them the disappointment of their recent defeat at Carlisle with a most combative, plausible performance against The Wires.

The Vale broke the deadlock in the 26th minute with an opulent try from Tom Crookall who wafted his way through a phalanx of Warrington players, pushed aside those would stood in his way and crossed for a try of bravura proportions, which was converted by Ben Dorrington.

Suddenly the Vale were calling all the shots and in the 36th minute they extended their lead with a classy score that owed a great deal to the quality of passing by the threequarters and the sheer pace of Wayne Blythe.

Once the winger had received the ball there was only going to be one outcome. He shifted through the gears effortlessly down the left wing for an unconverted try; his first at senior level.

As the half drew to a close the Vale’s forwards manufactured a try for one their own.

From a five-metre scrum Warrington were shunted backwards, with Jack Ayrton administering the coupé de grace, his try being converted by Dorrington from in front.

There was little respite for Warrington at the start of the second half and in the 45th minute they fell further behind as the Vale collected their try bonus point with an exquisite try.

Tom Crookall, Jack Turton all played their part in the build up but it was the delicate off load from Turton that sent the flying Blythe over for his second which was converted by Dorrington.

In the 51st minute Vale’s pack built the foundation for a Sam Wallbank try, converted by Turton with a beautifully judged kick.

In the space of one minute Warrington lost two players with yellow cards in the 54th and 55th minutes respectively, but the Vale had to wait until the hour mark to collect their final try.

Again unselfish high quality passing opened up Warrington’s defence to allow Crookall to cross for an unconverted try.

Fergus Owens embarked on a powerful, balance run in the build up to a move that ended with Blythe slipping a foot into touch in on his way to a hat-trick.

*Vale seconds lost at home to a strong Sandbach outfit, 29-25 in an absorbing Conference B fixture.

After defeating Oldham 2 at home last week Vale 3 lost 17-5 in the return fixture.

The North One West fixture at Leigh has been rearranged provisionally for April 30 for Vale’s first team.
