City of Lancaster Triathlon Club’s fine start to the season continued on home soil.

There were four golds for COLT juniors at the home aquathlon at Salt Ayre at the weekend.

First to take top place in the Tristart category was seven-year-old Ronan Maher who completed his 50m swim and 600m run in 4:52m.

In the supersprint category that again involves a 50m swim and 600m run, 11-year-old Alice Sands was dominant winning by half a minute in a time of 3:52.

In the Tristar 3 category that involved a 400m swim and 3km run, 14-year-old Shea Hannam again showed class with a national level performance against tough competition taking the win in a time of 14:44.

In the Junior category, North West academy member Georgia Hannam, 16, once again showed her potential for a Great Britain spot with a superb winning time of 25:06.

The fab four where not the only COLTS who set Salt Ayre alight at the weekend.

In Tristar 2, a 250m swim and 1,800m run, 10-year-old Rhys Ashton was neck and neck with his rival, 11-year-old Charlie Harding from Arragons Triathlon Club, right up to the last 100m but had to settle for second place in a time of 10:55.

Larissa Hannam, 11, was also superb in Tristar 2, taking second in 11:50.

Further solid COLT performances against strong competition included a third place for eight-year-old Angus Sands in Supersprint and a third place in Tristar 3, a 400m swim and 3km run, for Lydia Louise Shenton who clocked up the fastest swim of the event.

George Wilby, Zara Wilson, Sasha Oldham and Benjamin Winterburn all finished fifth in their categories.

Luke Leadbeatter, Archie Honeyset, Olivia Goddard, Thomas Dowthwaite, Jake Edwards, Amelie Earnshaw, Madison Craven, Harry Shaw, Emma Holden, Joshua Rigby and Alexandria Craven all also posted respectable times on a good day for the host club.
