The pupils battled it out against other Lancaster and Heysham schools in orienteering, cricket, quad kids, tri golf, girls’ football and touch rugby, and will now represent the district at the SPAR Lancashire School Games county finals where they will compete against teams from 13 other Lancashire districts in a bid to be crowned county champions.

Students from Bolton-le-Sands CofE, Moorside, North Road Community, Arkholme CofE, West End and Cathedral Catholic Primary Schools gathered at Heysham Golf Club for a tri golf competition, which was delivered by Heysham pros Ryan Done and Trevor Newsham.

The event was highly contested between all six schools, with Bolton-le-Sands CofE Primary School and Moorside Primary School both coming out on top and going on to represent their districts.

Bolton-le-Sands CofE Primary School will go on to represent Heysham in mixed cricket and quad kids athletics, while it was also double success for Grosvenor Park Primary School pupils who’ll also represent
Lancaster in the sports. Vale of Lune RUFC’s Martin Powell supported the districts’ girls in a tough tag rugby tournament, which saw Central Lancaster High School and Carnforth High School qualify for the county finals, while Christ Church CofE Primary School and St Peter’s CofE Primary School are the Lancaster and Heysham orienteering qualifiers.

The success did not stop there for team Lancaster and Heyhsam, with Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School and Great Wood Primary School securing highly-coveted places in girls’ football, which is always one of the most contested events at the SPAR Lancashire School Games.

More than 3,500 children from schools across Lancashire’s 15 districts are now battling it out for a place at the county finals in 16 sports including gymnastics, football, athletics, mixed cricket and touch
rugby.

New additions to the SPAR Lancashire School Games line-up have also been introduced for 2018, including quick sticks and quad kids.
