Table Tennis: Toby and Bethany impress at county championships

Toby Ellis and Bethany Ellis enjoyed success at the Lancashire County Championship last week, with Toby winning the boys U13 and Bethany winning the girls U11.

They will now represent Lancashire in the county finals, held in Wolverhampton later in the year.

Adam Ordonez continues to excel at county level after winning the under 19s Lancashire Table Tennis Championship for the second year running.

Meanwhile, in the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League, Garstang Annihilators Ellis was Trimpell Raptors’ man of the match as they beat Garstang Annihilators 23-15.

The Annihilators then beat Trimpell Bulldogs thanks to great performances from Matthew Westworth and Tom Clark, while the Raptors returned to action when they beat Trimpell City 22-12, with Paul Stebbing and Dave Gott starring.

St Luke’s C welcomed St Luke’s A with Dennis Hooley and Chris Knowles both taking nine points each for the A team, closely followed by Matthew Price with six.

Mike Gregory continues to hit the headlines after taking a win over Price for three points with David Hewitt starting to hit some form also with three.

The match ended with St Lukes A winning 27 points to 6.

lGreat Wood Primary School’s Under 11 boys team have reached the finals of the English Schools’ Table Tennis Butterfly National Team Championships, which will take place on Saturday, March 10 at Hinckley Leisure Centre, Leicestershire.

Thirty two teams across eight age categories have reached the finals.
