Table Tennis: Raptors keep Bulldogs on leash
The much anticipated clash of Premiership leaders saw Trimpell Bulldogs take on Trimpell Raptors in the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League.
In a sometimes ill-tempered encounter the match fell short of expectations with Bulldogs well beaten 27-12.
Dave Smith made a welcome return for Raptors as Paul Stebbing’s double partner winning 3-1.
Elsewhere in a busy week, Uni A moved into second place having an equal impact at both ends of the table with the University team first narrowly beating Morecambe B side 19-18 then sweeping aside all that Trimpell City could muster beating City 30-3.
Adam Ordonez for Morecambe B was top scorer in the match with Uni A with nine points followed by team mate Hudson Nuttall with six and a 3-0 doubles win for the Morecambe B pairing.
This crucial result wipes out City’s 15-point advantage and puts Morecambe B and Trimpell City on an equal standing with only two matches remaining.
Foot of the table Garstang Anihilators notched up a great win against fourth placed St Luke’s A winning 23-10.
In the Bay Schools League the final round of matches resulted in success for Great Wood school with Toby Ellis and Dylan Waring winning the Primary Schools Division for the ‘B’ team by one point from their closest rivals Great Wood ‘A’ with Genevieve Holchacks, Zoe Grime and Rachel Lister in their team.
Bradley Wilkinson, Matthew Westworth and Lucas Pinnington won the Senior Schools Division by a massive margin from the Grammar team of Madi Thompson, Isobelle Jones and Jack Senior.
