Swimming: Impressive Otters make impact at championships
The competition was held over two weekends at Liverpool and Manchester, and proved to be great experience for the three youngsters.
For 12 year old George Cookson it was his first time at the regional championships.

Hide AdThe strong young swimmer earned his placed this year as his performances have continued to improve throughout the season.
George competed in five events, producing top 20 finishes and personal best times in four of them, his best finish being an excellent 11th place in the 400m freestyle in a personal best time of 5.06.82
Rhys Ashton (12) swam in the 50m backstroke finishing a commendable 30th in a time of 37.28. Fourteen year old Thomas Dugdale unfortunately broke two fingers just a couple of weeks before the championships.
However, it didn’t stop two brave performances in the 50 and 100m butterfly events where he managed to produce a personal best time of 30.61 in the 50m swim, and just missed out on a place in the final of the 100m butterfly, finishing 11th.
