Super Perry Hunts down rivals in Preston to win veteran's race

At the Hunter's 10k in Preston Jayne Perry continued her good form, crossing the line in 43m.06 to finish 70th overall and first veteran 35.

In next was David Wilkison running well in 45m.31, with Michael Roy finishing in a fine effort of 46m.15. Emily Stapleton ran 47m.06, followed by Linda Stapleton in 1h.04.49.

Lancaster and Morecambe athletes turned out to support the Lancashire Flood Recovery Fund 10km and half marathon fun runs last weekend.

The event was held by Lancaster Race Series at short notice in aid of the Flood Recovery appeal, with much appreciated support ensuring the event was a success.

The fun runs raised at least £2000 for the appeal, a much welcome boost for the local community.

In the 10km run Lancaster runner Philip Lowery flew round in 38m.15 to claim second place. In next was Michael Roy with a solid effort of 44m.20 placing him 12th followed by Gareth Richardson finishing 16th in 46m.27.

Other finishers: Lee Watson 50m.37, Carole Wilkinson 53m.10 and Linda Stapleton 1h.03.14.

In the half marathon almost 200 runners took part and first back for the local club was Daniel O’Donnell with a super run of 1h.26.27 placing him 15th overall.

David Wilkinson clocked in at 1h.45.25 to finish 94th followed by Emily Stapleton who ran well in 1h.46.27.

Other finishers: John Riach 1h.56.30, Karen Cooper 1h.56.53, Gill Hamilton 1h.58.48.
