Team Lancaster brought home a total of five medals including a gold and a trophy in some of the most competitive sports.

This success was helped by the boys from Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy who took the super 8 athletics competition by storm, securing silver in the tournament.

Bolton-le-Sands Church of England Primary School also took a cup after securing bronze in the tag rugby competition, while Bowerham Community Primary School snatched bronze in girls’ football.

The success did not stop there as St Peter’s Catholic School secured gold in primary orienteering, while Morecambe Road School brought home bronze in inclusive orienteering.

The games is now in its eighth year and is the culmination of a host of inter-school and inter-district competitions with finals in 13 sports including girls football, tag rugby, athletics, tennis and gymnastics.

The day was kick-started with a colourful opening ceremony where Team GB pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale and Paralympian Shelly Woods were on hand to give pupils top tips before they competed.
