Senior swimmers impress at regional championships

Some of the senior swimmers from Carnforth Otters spent a very long weekend at the 15 year-open age North West Regional Summer Championships in Manchester.

Aimee Banks (15) posted personal best times and reached the final in every one of her events with one silver and two bronze medals meaning she is well placed to qualify for the national championships.

A place in two finals and a PB of 2.27.19 in the 200 backstroke left Alex Livingstone (15) with the possibility of qualifying for her first nationals in this event.

Hannah Edwards (15) reached the finals of all three of her breaststroke events, slashing two seconds off her 100m PB time and four seconds off her 200m time.

A PB of 36.07 in the 50m breaststroke also leaves Hannah with the potential of qualifying for her first nationals.

Ella Mounsey (15) finished seventh in the 400m freestyle and a PB of 33.27 in the 50m backstroke achieved a 12th place finish.

In the 50m backstroke Sadie Spencer (15) recorded a time of 34.10 right while Emily Reay (16) produced a PB of 29.96.

Jess Shatford (17) achieved a reserve finalist position with a time of 35.82 in the 50 breaststroke and Josh Thompson (18) bagged two silver and two golds.

The highlight of his weekend was the final of the 100m freestyle where an outstanding effort in the last 25m produced an excellent time and season’s best swim of 52.64.
