Second team unable to maintain early promise as South Shore recover

Vale 2 got off to a great start in their home match against South Shore 3 in Division Four North of the North West Counties Squash League but could not maintain their challenge and finished 3-2 losers.

Chris Halldearn got the ball rolling at number five in the playing order, winning 3-1 after going one game down at the start.

Rupert Douglas-Jones piled the pressure on the seasiders taking an easy 3-0 victory at number 
four.

Joe Hopkinson went down 3-1 before John Harker at two, put in a typically energetic display.

John took a hard-fought first game 17-15, then lost the next two.

But he never knows when to give up and took the fourth to level the match. But the fifth game proved one too far, losing 15-8.

At number one Rob Kitchen battled but lost out 3-0.

Vale 1 were unable to raise a team to face Blackpool Cricket Club 3 due to illness and injuries meaning their match didn’t go ahead as planned.
