School league sets record

LANCASTER and Morecambe and District Table Tennis League’s Bay Inter School League started recently.

It is divided into two divisions, Division A for year 7 and 8 pupils and Division B for primary schools.

The first division has 12 teams representing local senior schools. Six rounds of matches were played with Morecambe and QES taking the top positions with 100 per cent records.

In Division B Great Wood A, with Alice Dillon and Ryan Grime in the team, are very well positioned in second place with a game in hand on the leaders from Burton.

A record number of 56 matches were played in this first day in the Morecambe Community High School sports hall.

In the Lancaster and Morecambe league St Lukes defeated University A 22-14 to move into second place in the Premier Division and all but ended the University title challenge in the process. Chris Knowles, Paul Hines and Tony March did the damage for the home team.
