Kirkby took the game to them early on – a Dave Barton chip over into the try zone caused problems for the home side but they were able to win the race to the fingertip touchdown and prevent a try.

Kirkby then had a penalty kick at goal from around 30 metres but Ryan Terry’s kick hit the crossbar and bounced away.

Kirkby took the lead when Harry Huddleston raced down the line, he was eventually held up but the ball was recycled and moved quickly right down the line to centre Matt Bargh, who went over for the try to give the visitors a 5-0 advantage.

Morley responded in the second quarter when they put the ball through twenty one phases on their way to a converted try to give them a 7-5 lead at the half time break.

Chester slotted over a penalty early in the second half for Morley before Terry did likewise to make it 10-8, only for Chester to kick another 10 minutes later as Morley led 13-8 at the end of the third quarter.

Kirkby put some late pressure on Morley but the hosts were able to hang on for a needed victory.
