Kirkby Lonsdale 48-15 Wirral

Kirkby Lonsdale returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 48-15 victory over Wirral at Underley Park.

rral stand-off James Annetts gave the visitors the lead after just five minutes from a penalty but Kirkby hit back quickly when Dave Barton went over for the first try of the game, converted by Ryan Terry.

Five minutes later Kirkby were in again when Harry Huddleston spun out of a tackle to score by the left corner flag to make it 12-3.

Alex Rogers was next to score, and Ben Walker then finished off a great move to make it 22-3, although Wirral did score a try just before half-time to make it 22-8 at the break.

Wirral scored a converted try early in the second half as well but Barton struck again with another try to settle Kirkby’s nerves a little, giving his team a 27-15 lead going into the final quarter.

A break from Walker then opened up Wirral and created a try for Stu Storey before Barton completed his hat-trick, Terry converting both tries.

Ben Walker completed the scoring with his second try of the game and Kirkby’s eighth, Terry again converting to make the final score 48-15.
