A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a TT race involving Morecambe’s John McGuinness was halted following a ‘red flag incident’.

Jamie Hamilton was airlifted to Nobles hospital following the incident at the 11th Milestone during the PokerStars Senior TT race on Friday. There was no report on his injuries.

The race was stopped with McGuinness – known as ‘The Morecambe Missile’ – in second place two seconds behind leader Ian Hutchinson.

A road sweeper cleared the road surface so the race could restart.

It was announced there would be a four-lap restart of the race at 2.45pm.

Hutchinson has already won three races at this week’s annual meeting on the Isle of Man.

McGuinness has won six Senior races during his career at the TTs and is chasing his 23rd overall victory.
