Young teenage judo star Esmee Holgate wins British Schools title again

Teenage judo star Esmeè Holgate successfully defended her British Schools’ title for the second year running in Sheffield recently.

The 14 year old from Bentham travelled to Yorkshire, where she fought and beat her rivals to become champion once more.

The success was a fantastic result for the youngster, who attends Queen Elizabeth’s School in Kirkby Lonsdale.

And it followed on from the previous weekend where she fought at the Scottish Championships in the cadet Under-18 years category where she beat the current British champion and youth Olympian, despite being three years younger.

Esmeè trains at Craven Judo Academy, coached by Danny Harper and she is on the England Development programme.

She has medalled for her country on three separate occasions and won Cumbria’s Rising Sports Star Award in November 2019.

Esmeè also receives personal training for Strength and Conditioning at TNT at Ingleton with Tomi Tatham, trains five days a week and competes most weekends. She travels extensively both in England and abroad.
