Morecambe CC's senior line-up suffers weekend league and cup losses
Morecambe CC had a difficult weekend with their first XI seeing defeats in league and cup.
Ryan Pearson’s players lost at Chorley on Saturday in the Northern Premier Cricket League, 24 hours before exiting the league’s 40-over tournament following defeat to Garstang

They had enjoyed early success with the wickets of Andrew Holdsworth (14), Ben Simpkins (11), Harry Barclay (12) and Will Moulton (0).
However, the decisive phase of play came as Siddesh Lad and Joseph Tiffin joined forces.
Lad struck 113 from only 119 balls, supported by Tiffin who made a well-paced 45 in helping them surpass 200.
Liam Moffat (2-29), Jack White (2-44), Louis Backhouse (1-49) and Charlie Swarbrick (1-67) took the wickets for Morecambe, who were 187 all out when they batted.
Lad claimed 3-36 with the wickets of Kieran Moffat (35), White (14) and Lewis Smith (0).

Ryan Pearson took 5-31 in helping to bowl out Garstang, for whom Michael Wellings top-scored with 95.
In reply, Adam Ball claimed 3-33 as Morecambe were unable to chase down their target despite good starts for Alex Briggs (42), Luke Pearson (28), Lloyd Smith (26 not out) and Swarbrick (25).
The seconds went down by nine wickets on Saturday against a Netherfield side inspired by Lewis Bramley.
He took 8-22 as Morecambe were rolled over for 50, a score which Netherfield surpassed for the loss of one wicket.
There was, however, victory for the third XI as they saw off Leven Valley by 126 runs.
Morecambe batted first and ended their 40 overs on 230-3, thanks mainly to Kevin Demain’s 94.
