It’s the time of year when people tend to focus their efforts on something new – and is there anything better than choosing you?

Fitness has so many benefits, not least of all the physical gains. And as health and happiness so often go hand in hand, the team at 3-1-5 Health Club in Lancaster want people to choose something important this year – to put themselves first.

And if you are still feeling that tiny bit guilty about putting yourself first for a change, owner Sean Thornton at 3-1-5 Health Club has the answer: “We know every person has busy lives and find it hard to fit in fitness. That’s why we try to be as flexible as possible, and have introduced a whole new fitness programme with new timetables for 2024.

“Of course, for many the access to the gym at any time during opening hours is the flexi choice they can fit round family and work. But if you love the motivation, community and inspiration that comes from classes, we not only produce a great variety for you to choose from, but at times to work around your life.”

Sean added: “Choosing you is far from a selfish choice; I’d actually say it’s a crucial choice. In a world where ‘be kind’ is a welcome mantra, being kind to yourself should be every bit as important. Take the time to concentrate on you, have time away from life’s stresses, and take part in something that will ultimately help you live healthier for longer.”

And Sean says that the NHS says regular exercise is crucial to helping to cut your risks of heart disease or stroke, improve your endurance and strength, help manage your weight alongside a balanced diet, help prevent diseases such as type two diabetes and certain types of cancer, and to improves your mental health. Many GPs recommend exercise as a natural mood lifter, and a way to help manage stress, anxiety and the symptoms of depression.
