New generation of Lancaster and Morecambe junior table tennis champions crowned

The Lancaster and Morecambe Junior Table Tennis Championships were held at Morecambe High School with a new generation of individual champions being crowned.

In the under 11 boys, winner Matthew Westworth, who is also the Lancashire schools under 11 title holder, had to hold off a strong challenge from Toby Ellis.

Both players are pupils at Torrisholme CP School.

In the Under 11 Girls Rachel Lister is this year’s winner with Genevieve Holchaks runner up.

Both players attend Great Wood CP School.

In the Under 14 Boys, following closely fought group matches Elliott Bywater came out on top with Matthew Cross second and Bradley Wilkinson in third place.

In the Under 17 Boys, following a very competitive group stage with a record 
entry Adam Ordonez won the title with Aiden Branch in second place.

Coaching and training opportunities are to be expanded in Lancaster and Morecambe for all ages between eight and 16 years on Tuesday evenings at Ripley School and Thursday evenings at Morecambe Community High School.
