Carlos Tevez was the main attraction as he starred for Manchester City Reserves at the Globe Arena on Wednesday night.

Tevez was among the goals as City led 3-1 at the break, scoring in the 28th minute with a superb chip over the advancing Morecambe keeper Chris Kettings.

Tevez, who played 71 minutes, was soon in the thick of the action when he was brought down by Chris Doyle after just seven minutes and Joan Roman slotted home the spot kick.

City added a second on 17 minutes when Reece Wabara flashed a shot past Kettings at his near post from just inside the box.

Tevez made it 3-0 just before the half hour before the Shrimps replied with a goal of the own on 30 minutes when new boy Craig Curran scored from close range after the City defence failed to clear a dangerous Morecambe free kick.

Morecambe started the second half strongly with Jack Redshaw going close before City went on to score three more times in the second half.

Tevez played in Omar Elabdellaoui for a fourth on 54 minutes before Roman sealed his hat-trick with goals on 73 and 84 minutes.

James Short hit the crossbar for the Shrimps and Nial Cowperthwaite also forced an excellent save from Eirik Johansen but despite the best efforts of Stewart Drummond’s youngsters the Shrimps were hit fir six.

Tevez was joined in the City starting line up by former England international Owen Hargreaves, who showed some neat touches throughout.
