MORECAMBE’S very own Mr Muscle, Graham Hicks, has been crowned England’s Strongest Man.

Hicks returned to Salt Ayre Sports Centre in Lancaster where he won Northern England’s Strongest Man earlier in the year to be crowned the strongest man in the country under 105kg on Sunday.

Hicks, who works at BAE Systems in Warton, now moves onto Britain’s Strongest Man in Dumbarton at the end of July and the UK’s Strongest Man final in Kent in August where he will take on Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland’s strongest men.

Hicks said: “I thought I had a good chance going into the competition but didn’t expect to win by as much as I did, winning by 12 points.”

The former Our Lady’s High School pupil also broke the log lift record on route to victory.
