A LATE Ross Hannah goal denied Morecambe the chance to go clear at the top of League 2.

Substitute Hannah struck three minutes into injury time with a fine left foot volley from the edge of the area that beat Barry Roche low to his left to deny the Shrimps a fifth successive victory.

Izak Reid gave Morecambe the lead on 56 minutes with his first goal for the club and that looked to be enough to see them top the table. Laurence Wilson’s first effort came back off the crossbar and after a goalmouth scramble Reid volleyed home superbly from 12 yards out.

The visitors hit back with Barry Roche saving superbly from James Devitt’s free kick and James Hanson’s close range header before Lewis Alessandra missed a golden opportunity when he shot over from 12 yards from a great opening.

Alessandra then tested Duke with a neat shot after a sharp turn but he was made to pay for his miss when Hannah slotted home Jack Compton’s cross.

Bradford started brightly with Mark Stewart sending a dipping shot over the bar before Morecambe’s first` effort of note came in the 16th minute. Luke Oliver failed to clear and Phil Jevons clipped the top of the crossbar with his effort from close range.

Stewart Drummond saw two efforts fly over the bar and Bradford left back Robbie Threlfall went close with a 40th minute free kick that grazed the left hand post.

After a poor first half the second period came to life with the Shrimps thwarted at the death in the most dramatic of fashions.
