One of Morecambe Sailing Club’s Youth Team April Whiteley sailed her Blaze dinghy to top position at the club’s race meeting on the bay on Sunday.
A Morecambe Community High School student, she was followed by Dyane Silvester in second place and David Edwards third, both sailing Streakers.
This left John Hodgson, just settling down in his new Supernova dinghy, and Tyrone Lewis in a Solo to share fourth place.
It was a special day for Youth Team member, Harry Ord, taking part in his first race in a Topper and picking up fifth place.
Elsewhere fellow Youth Team members, Morgan Foster and Annabel Hall were trying their hands sailing an Enterprise.
Officer of the day was Dave Metcalfe with Neil Ryder helming the rescue boat and Nick Whiteley in a second.
This weekend, August 6 and 7, is busy with Super Saturday sailing where members can practice skills and try different boats in a non-competitive environment.
Following sailing, there is a Sail4Cancer charity afternoon tea at the clubhouse in the afternoon from 3pm with all welcome.
