It was the day of the streakers when Morecambe Sailing Club members took to the bay on Sunday with all three races won by streaker dinghies – two by Dave Metcalfe and one by Dyane Silvester.
After a series of Sunday race meetings having to be abandoned due to high winds and difficult sailing conditions, the meeting got under way with near perfect conditions with sunshine and a light breeze.
Then conditions worsened with strong gusts of wind, heavy rain and choppy seas leading to the third and final race being cut short.
Metcalfe led the first and third races with strengthening wind giving Silvester just the extra push she needed to put Metcalfe into second place for the day’s second race.
Dave Edwards, also sailing a streaker, took seconds in the first and third races.
Third places went to Silvester in Race 1 with Dave Baron in a club laser picking up third in both second and third races.
Officer of the day was Rohan Slaughter with the club’s cruiser captain, John Hodgson, helming the safety boat.
