Warton were six-wicket winners at Bolton-le-Sands on Saturday as their Westmorland Cricket League Divison One clash somehow beat the weather.
With a wet outfield and frequent heavy showers visiting captain Gareth Finney won the toss and inserted Sands in the hope of chasing a small target batting second.
The hosts made a slow start as Graeme Crowther regularly beat the bat with no luck.
Wickets came at regular intervals however and despite some middle order resistance Sands could only manage 146-7 from their allocated 45 overs with Ricky Nelson taking 3-33.
In reply, as the thunder and lightning moved in, Warton knew they needed quick runs.
As has been the norm recently Stuart Mayor (26) and Ryan Nelson (36) got off to a rapid start but then torrential rain arrived and the game looked to be over.
However both captains and the umpires ensured match was back on with Warton having only 12 overs left to knock off the required runs.
Dan Dixon (34 not out) and Jack Brown (27) made rapid progress and put away any loose bowling and it was left to Finney to hit the winning runs with a boundary to claim 12 very hard earned points.
