Westmorland Cricket League: Two wins for Carnforth on opening day

Carnforth began their Westmorland Cricket League Division Three campaign with a nine-wicket win over Ambleside’s A team on Saturday.

Mark Bradley took five wickets for just nine runs at the visitors were bowled out for 123.

Bradley Hoyle (60 not out) and Neil Dugdale (57 not out) then guided Carnforth to a 12-point win in just 17.1 overs.

In Division Four of the Westmorland Cricket League Carnforth’s A team were 98-run winners over Shireshead 3rds.

Asked to bat Carnforth were in trouble early on at 11-2 but Michael Baxendale (93) and Rueben Bragg (53) got together and put on 140 before 41 not out from captain James Thornton saw them finish on 216-6.

In reply, opener Will Fraser-Gray made 39 but Stan (4-14) and Archie (2-34) Rich combined as Shireshead were bowled out for 118.
