Dave Chisnall came from 3-0 down to beat Phil Taylor 7-4 in a topsy-turvy Betway Premier League clash at the Manchester Arena on Thursday night.
The Morecambe ace edged a game that was low on quality for long periods to cement his place in the coveted top four.
The 16-time world champion raced into a 3-0 lead despite not hitting top form in a scrappy encounter.
Chisnall then hit an unconventional 112 finish, starting with single five and ending with the bullseye, to get on the board at 3-1.
Taylor then missed three darts at a double in leg five allowing Chisnall to take out 96 and break for 3-2.
Leg six was another poor affair with Taylor taking out double two for 4-2.
Both players again missed chances in the next leg but it was Chisnall who finished on double 16 to reduce the arrears to 4-3.
The game finally had a maximum 180 in leg eight from Chisnall and the Morecambe man profited to level things up at 4-4.
Chisnall was finally getting into his stride and didn’t look back with a further 180 in leg nine helping him go in front for the first time at 5-4 in what was turning into a remarkable game.
Taylor then missed the bull to take out 161 in leg 10 and Chisnall returned to guarantee himself a point at 6-4.
The Morecambe man then broke the Taylor throw again to win a crazy game 7-4.
