St Annes too strong for seconds

ST ANNES won the toss and deciding to bowl had effectively wrapped up the game by the fifth over.

Youngster Ben Willis had ripped out Morecambe’s top order and the home side were reeling at 5-5, with Maje, Milner, Plackett and Fisher accounted for and joined by Izzat who was run out.

It was left to the younger players to gain some respectability for the home side.

Only Tharlmalingum (18 not out) showed any real resistance.

Willis finished with 6-25 whilst Bartholomew picked up the last two wickets for only six runs,

In reply St Annes, despite losing a couple of wickets, were never in any danger of losing the game.

Victory came at 3.55pm in only 17 overs as Morecambe’s disastrous start to the season continued.
