Phil Sandham (Bolton-le-Sands) is currently on a roll with rally co-driving – this past Saturday he was reading the pace notes for Scotland’s Andrew Gallacher in Andrew’s Mitsubishi Evo, the duo participating on the Brick and Steel Border Counties Rally – a round of the Scottish Rally C/ship.
The event was based in Jedburgh however, the high-speed competitive mileage was within Keilder Forest (Europe’s largest man-made forest), with the first two special stages having a coating of fresh snow – catching out the unwary.
Andrew/Phil managed to bring their Evo home to a superb seventh overall and first in the Production Car Class.
This result placed the rapid duo in sixth overall in the Championship and at the head of the Production Cup Class.
Their next event will be the Granite City Rally (mid-April) – with special stages in the beautiful northern Highlands.
However, Phil will be competing alongside Darren Atkinson (Lancaster) in the Escort Mk2 over the tarmac roads of the Isle of Man in May, when the Manx National Rally takes place.
