BARE suffered defeat in their first away trip of the season to Burneside on Saturday.

Burneside, put in to bat, almost gave away a wicket in the first over of the game with a missed run-out opportunity.

The openers, Shepherd (33) and Brennan (28), set a solid platform for the Burneside batting line-up with an opening stand of 51.

However Steve Bransby, standing in as skipper for the day, brought himself on to bowl and having been hit for six off his second ball, picked up two wickets in his first over.

Two more wickets from the Bare stalwart put Burneside on 61-4 and brought Ben Leacock to the crease.
