Morecambe seconds too good for Fleetwood

Morecambe 2nds were six-wicket winners at home to Fleetwood on Saturday.

Batting first the visitors made 140-8 with Andy Singleton top scoring with 42.

In reply Morecambe captain Matthew Derham was in the runs at the top of the order with 48 before Luke Bray (28 not out) and Phil Thornton (22) helped the Woodhill Lane side to victory as they finished on 141-4.

It was a good all-round bowling performance from the hosts as well with Lewis Smith (2-44), Andy Bird (2-18), Uzair Shah (3-25) and Lloyd Smith (1-23) helping to restrict Fleetwood in the first innings.

The 12-point win leaves Morecambe third from bottom in Division Two of the Northern Premier League with eight games played.
