Lancaster win second team derby against Morecambe

Lancaster got the better of the second XI derby with Morecambe at Lune Road on bank holiday Monday.

Matthew Liver and Daniel Chambers both took three wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 117 batting first.

Uzair Shah top scored for Morecambe with 24 with Gulam Maje also making 20 at the top of the order.

In reply, 31 from Craig Heywood, 29 not out from Luke Phillips and 24 for Chambers saw the hosts to a three-wicket win as they finished on 118-7.

Andy Bird and Farooq Mughal both took three wickets in Morecambe’s losing effort. 
On Saturday, Morecambe’s seconds had been five run winners over Kendal at Woodhill Lane.

Matthew Derham made 70 in the hosts’ total of 175-6 before the visitors were bowled out for 170.

Lancaster’s second string went down to a 23-run defeat at Blackpool on Saturday.

The hosts posted 177-6 batting first with Lancaster bowled out for 154, skipper Alex Metcalfe making 74 at the top of the order.
