Lancaster kept up their perfect start to life in the Palace Shield Premier Division with a 32-run win over Croston at Lune Road on Saturday.

The hosts were bowled out for 119 but had Liam Moffat to thank for helping them defend their modest total.

The left-arm seamer took 6-23 in a fine spell of bowling as Croston were bowled out for just 87.

The visitors had won the toss at the start of the day and put Luke Phillips’ men in to bat.

After scoring 86 in the opening day win over Torrisholme, Charlie Swarbrick was again the top scorer in the innings, this time with a more modest 39.

His knock included five fours and a six.

Extras was the next top scorer with 20 while Kieran Moffat was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 17.

Sam Marsh, 3-25, and Callum Mcilveen, 3-43, were the pick of the Croston bowlers.

In reply, the visitors’ innings never got going. Only captain Lee Childs, 41, and Ian Dickinson, 19, made more than four as Moffat, with help from Swarbrick, 3-13, ripped through the Croston batting line-up. Ben Simm also took 1-27.

Lancaster next host Longridge on Saturday.
